Hey guys! It’s FRIDAY!
This week has whizzed on by! It’s been a fun creative one for me; Oli and I have been able to shoot almost every day (awesome!) and I was able to catchup with some of my best blogging friends yesterday (and make some new ones!) at the launch of Iris & Ink’s new SS’15 collection.
This week also saw THIS happen *gestures upwards and below in cabin-crew like manner.*
I cut my hair into a long lob.
Well technically Oli, my hairdressing dynamo of a boyfriend, did.
Thanks handsome fella!
What’s a lob you ask? Easy! A lob is simply a long bob.
My lob is actually more mid length, but hey, I want to be part of the lob gang too (which actually sounds quite hostile?!) so long lob it is!
I first saw the lob on Lauren Conrad, as created by her longtime hair stylist Kristin Ess.
Kristin co-founded the brilliant beauty web site thebeautydepartment.com. If you haven’t checked it out before – do so now!
Following a misguided bleach incident last Summer, my hair had been suffering. The condition wasn’t too bad in the warmer months, but the Winter had reached havoc on it, and it felt constantly dry and fragile. Eventually I knew is needed a proper refresh, and so Oli and I agreed to go shorter!
The verdict: I am SUPER happy I cut a good few inches off of my hair!
If you are toying with the idea of cutting your own hair, here’s my two cents on the issue:
A proper chop will greatly help the condition of your hair, it’ll look thicker for not having wispy broken ends, and a shorter length is FUN. The long lob is a great middle ground if you are scared of going bob-length or even lob-length short, and it’s easy to grow out should you decide it’s not for you! Bonus: if like me, you like to tie your hair up (especially important for a concentration bun when working!) then you can easily do this with the long lob.
What are you guys feeling for hair right now? Are you thinking about going for the chop too?!
Have an awesome weekend guys!
Love, Monica x
