Life Lately: We’re Married! + A Fresh Start!

Hello hello!  As I type it’s officially one month since Oli and I said “I will” (fun fact: not “I do!”) in Menorca. I have SO much to share with you from the wedding, and the whole build up to it, but today I wanted to tap out a ‘Life Lately’ post.

Being newly married and welcoming in autumn, it truly feels like the start of a new chapter round here, and I’m excited to share it with you!

This blog post is a bit of a natter, so grab a wine/coffee/chai tea (I’m obsessed with Pukka’s Vanilla Chai RN) and let’s catchup!

OK, so unsurprisingly the biggest thing for me of late (possibly ever?!) has been getting married to Oli!

Whilst Oli and I took a pretty laid-back approach to our wedding, it was still a HUGE part of our year. The planning, lead up to, prep . . . !

We just got our photos back from our wonderful photographer Charlotte, so our plan for celebrating our one-month-eversary is to crack open a bottle of champagne (which we were given SO much of as gifts btw! GREAT bonus from getting hitched!) and look at every photo at least 10 times ha!

I am SO excited to re-live the day together!

I’m Wearing

Top: Boohoo (A few years back) | Skirt: Joanie Clothing c/o

Sandals: Sorel c/o (Past Season) | Basket Bag: Vintage

Hair Band: New Look (Past Season but they have a huge selection currently)

The wedding took up so much head space/money that we’re finding our feet again before embarking on anything major with the flat.

ALTHOUGH when we do, it will be to update our bar area! It’s already been re-painted and I can’t wait to share the new colour with you!

Plus we’ll be adding a mirror, artwork, a rug . . .

OK I say we’re ‘finding our feet again’ but I’m still planning! Ha!

It feels a little crazy to say it but I’m already dreaming up our decor for Christmas too. Do you remember my Christmas Decorations tour from last year? Well, I’m planning on amping it up, whilst still keeping the same overall vibe going. I can’t wait to make a eucalyptus garland again!

^ Where I’ll be hosting the workshops!!! Alresford Linen! ^

Wow! I didn’t realise how much head space and energy the wedding was taking up, until we came home from Menorca! Planning a wedding really is like having another job on the go, and since we’ve been home I have been SO happy to crack on with work in a way I haven’t been able to in a while. It’s not so much that anything fell to the wayside around the wedding, more that it wasn’t possible to do big-picture thinking, planning and anything extra alongside it all.

So now I’m like some sort of crazed planner. I spent a full WEEK sorting out all of our paperwork, and drawing up a breakdown of our finances, both personal and business. It was one of the most boring jobs I’ve ever done but I really felt like I wanted to have a solid foundation to build this new  chapter of our lives on. Now that we have a grip on our earnings and expenses it feels like we can really plan for our future.

Have you ever done a similar exercise? It’s a game changer, I swear.

Season 8 Let’s Discuss!

Other than being an absolute planning nerd (see also: editorial calendar), Ella and I have started recording for Season 8 of Let’s Discuss Podcast! We have a long season coming up for you (YAY!), and a mix of 1:1 chats and guests.

It’s been so nice to get back into our recording groove after our summer hiatus. The first episode goes out on Tuesday October 22nd.

A Blog Refresh

In the long run I feel SO ready for a blog refresh, and to dream a little bigger when it comes to the future of this site. I’m not 100% sure what that will look like right now, but I’ve got some ideas . . . ! I’m also looking for an intern RN, so I’m hoping that having some help will give me more bandwidth too.

New November Workshops!

And finally on the work front I’ve just announced a new round of social media and blogging workshops which I will be running in November at Alresford Linen, in Alresford. Here’s a link to the workshops in case you’re interested.

Overall this really does feel like a line in the sand for me. A ‘fresh start’ can be so powerful, and I’m welcoming it with open arms.

The wedding. Turning 30 in January . . . it just feels like a new chapter.

Are you going through a ‘line in the sand’ phase right now? If so, what are you excited about?! Any plans between now and the rest of the year?

I’d love to hear from you!

Love, Monica x
