Why A Gifting Theme Can Ease Your Present-Buying Stress & 5 Theme Ideas

A Gifting Theme.

I swear this is one of the best tips anyone has ever bestowed upon me for Christmas. And by none-other than Holly Tucker, founder of Not On The High Street and Holly & Co.

When Ella and I interviewed Holly for this season of Let’s Discuss, we asked Holly for her top tips around gifting.

After all, Holly’s the woman responsible for one of the world’s largest gifting companies!

Holly’s advise?

“I like to give it a theme . . . for last year it was about reading. I gave everybody books and then had little note-lets written and personalised that I stuck in the beginning of the book.”

The huge benefit of gifting by theme is that you choose your theme and then you can run with it! Can you imagine how quickly you can get your shopping done once you’ve settled on your category?!

A gifting theme allows you to focus your efforts, whilst really thinking about the item your giftee would most enjoy within that category. It may sound like a less thoughtful route, but in fact you can really narrow down on EXACTLY what type of gift your receiver would most enjoy within that category.

If a  gifting theme sounds like your saviour this Christmas, I’ve rounded up 5 different categories which I think work a charm!

Happy choosing!

I have 20,587 photos on my phone at the time of writing this post. How many have I actually printed?

An embarrassingly small number.

Photos are ALWAYS  a lovely gift!

For friends you can create a photo book of a trip you took together. I actually did this (that one time!) and our friends were SO happy! It made the best lasting memory of our time together.

If you’re gifting a colleague you can frame a picture of one of your work night’s out together which they can put on their desk.

Perhaps if it’s a family member you can choose a really gorgeous frame to hold a special family photo.

Photos never fail as a gift option, and they work for everyone on your gifting list!

I’ve used Photobox previously to print my photos and the quality has been great.

Just like Holly shared, books make a brilliant gift for anyone.

You can choose novels, cooking books, personal growth titles – anything category you think your giftee would enjoy!

A few personal recommendations for books I’ve LOVED?

I absolutely adore beautiful prints and quotes adorning my walls, and I know that they bring so much joy to the homes of my loved ones too.

Having launched my poster collection this year, I’m even more in love with wall art than ever! You can peruse my collection in Monica Beatrice Shop, and for other wall art have a peep at Society 6 for gorgeous photographs or Desenio for affordable prints.

I also love wall hangings (thank you Amanda for ongoing home-spiration!) – Urban Outfitters has a great selection. I love this one in particular.

You’d be hard-pushed to scroll Pinterest around Christmas time and not see an Anthropologie gold monogrammed mug.

I love mine and Oli’s gold-lettered versions SO much. I swear coffee tastes better in them!

A monogrammed item always lends a personal touch.

Anthropologie has a great selection of personalised pieces, as does Oliver Bonas.

Not On The High Street also offers a HUGE array of personalised gifts, so I suggest settling in for a good browse!

AND, to my detriment I just discovered tde. (aka The Daily Edited) which has the most stunning array of personalised items – perfect for a special someone!

This is THE Christmas classic!

You can adjust the price of the scarf according to who you’re gifting. And you don’t need to worry about sizing – because, y’know it’s all the same really ????????‍♀️

You may choose a stunning luxury cashmere Lois Avery shawl for your Mum. While a fun playful style from Zara is perfect for your bestie.

A tartan is a classic for your Dad. And Liberty has a gorgeous selection for the special men in your life.

You can EVEN combine two gifting categories – and have a scarf monogrammed. Genius!

Have you ever gifted by theme before? If so, which theme did you go with?

Are you going to be trying this method for 2017? I’d love to know!

Love, Monica x
