Happy September 1st friends! My preferred NY ripe with back-to-school feels. Autumn is my very favourite season, and as such I thought it would be fun to share a few things I’m looking forward to this autumn!
5 Things I’m Looking Forward to This Autumn
All. The. Colours.
Fellow Autumn Nerds, is there anything more beautiful than the fiery hues of leaves changing colours? Or golden hour stretching across just-harvested fields? It feels like all colours deepen and become more precious come autumn. I’m already looking forward to my morning walks as the season changes and becomes more colourful. Cold crisp mornings + sunshine + autumn leaves = H E A V E N.
I swear autumn is the best season for outfits. You get the chance to mix your favourite trans-seasonal pieces from summer, with new-season boots, knits + light layers. Autumn is a GOOD season when it comes to fashion. I just updated my Amazon Shop with some pieces for Autumn/Winter. Have a peruse if you fancy adding any items to your autumn wardrobe too.
A few outfits I’m excited to wear this season: a satin skirt + chunky knit jumper // jeans + a cute top + loafers // long dress + ankle boots + jumper knotted around the shoulder.
If you’re in need of some autumn style inspo, I’ve collated a bunch of autumn outfit ideas on Pinterest too!
The flavours of autumn
And no, I’m not just talking about pumpkin spiced lattes. I’m ALSO talking about roasted root veggies, warming curries, overnight oats, apples, pears . . . all the seasonal heroes! And yes, maybe I’ll indulge in a PSL or two, though unpopular opinion I don’t like how they’re usually made! They’re wayyy too sweet for me. If I do order a PSL I always ask for 1/2 – one pump of syrup which gives it just the right hit of spice.
If you want a more low-key spiced coffee option, try adding some cinnamon to your regular cup. I have cinnamon in my coffee every single day and love how it tastes.
Bonus tip: Califia Farms Vanilla Almond Milk is The. One. for even more feel-good coffee feels.
TV & chill
There is so much good TV around right now! And there’s nothing better than cosy-ing up on a chilly evening, candles lit, digging into a great TV show.
My great friend Wendy has a list of Binge worthy TV on her blog and I highly recommend you check it out if you’re looking for a new show or few.
My recommendations for autumn: Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, Uncoupled, Selling the OC, Never Have I Ever. I’m sure that I’ll be diving into a load more but these are the easy warm shows on my radar RN.
A fresh start
As I mentioned above, I treat autumn like a second New Year. The difference being that come January I’m usually exhausted from a busy festive season, whereas come September I’m energised from summer. Hence why I like to adopt September 1st as my preferred New Year.
Now is a great time to take stock of where you’re at, what’s working for you, what you’d like to change/shift/work on, and draw up a plan for the rest of the year.
You have 4 months left of 2022, what goals or intentions are you setting?
